Scott Schweitzer and his wife Chrissy owned Bakersfield Speedway for twenty two years, closing it and moving the operation to Kevin Harvick's Kern County Raceway in 2025. Over the years they hosted sprint cars, stock cars, midgets, modifieds, motorcycles and even lawn mower races. The track itself had been around for eighty years, dirt, paved, then dirt again.

Scott and Chrissy Schweitzer's daughter, Bailey, was killed in the
Harvest Festival mass shooting in Las Vegas in 2017. They started the Bailey Schweitzer Memorial Scholarship through Centennial High – Bailey’s alma mater.
