Rick,
a Bakersfield South High graduate, began his career in motorcycles, go karts and
off road buggies. He got his start in Indy Cars when he was offered a ride
in the Bill Simpson owned Eagle at Ontario Motor Speedway in 1976. From
there he went on to drive for Roger Penske, scoring four wins at the
Indy 500 and three CART championships. He ran in 203 races over
seventeen years, the last being the Michigan 500 in 1992.
He now works as a consultant for Penske and is in the
International Motorsports Hall of Fame, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Hall of Fame, the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America and theTeam
Penske Hall of Fame. G
