Kevin
Harvick graduated from North High School. While in school he was a
successful go kart racer,
winning seven national championships and two grand national
championships. He was the 1993 Mesa Marin track champion, competed in the NASCAR Southwest Tour and was the
1995 Rookie of the Year. In 1995 he ran his own truck in the Craftsman
Truck Series, later driving for Spears Motorsports. In 1998 he competed
in the NASCAR Winston West Series, winning the championship. His first
start in NASCAR's Busch series came in 1999 driving for Richard
Childress and he was Rookie of the Year in 2000.
Harvick moved up to Winston Cup in 2001 and was Rookie of the Year as
well as winning the Busch championship. He again won the Busch
championship in 2006. Driving for Stewart - Haas, he won the Sprint Cup
championship in 2014 and the 2020 regular season championship. He ran
in 826 NASCAR Cup races with 60 wins, 444 top tens and 31 poles. In the
Xfinity Series, he ran in 349 races with 47 wins, 261 top tens and 25
poles. In the Craftsman Truck Series he ran in 124 races with 14 wins,
62 top tens and 4 poles. He currently works as a commentator for Fox,
fields a CARS Series late model and supports the Kevin Harvick
Scholarshio Fund at Cal State Bakersfield. He is in the West Coast
Stock Car / Motorsports Hall of Fame, the NASCAR Hall of Fame and the Texas Motorsports Hall of Fame.
